Biography
I am originally from Chicago, IL and currently live in Jackson, Tn. I am a level 5 high school English teacher with 14 yrs of experiences that loves to implement as much technology as I can into my subject area. Since most teachers have limited resources due to school budgets and the sort, I do not have many opportunities to implement as much technology in my English class as I would like. With the help of this website, I hope to enlighten my fellow educators on new and innovative ways of adding technology to their English curriculum inexpensively. The technology that I am able to implement in the classroom involves the use of alternative assessments, like online poetry booklets, Microsoft Office 365 applications, 3.5 essays and many other limited forms of technology.
I happen to love the inclusion of technology in the classroom so much that when I graduated with my M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction I also received a special technology certificate, recognized by the state of Tennessee (IDT). This certificate recognizes the fact that I have successfully completed a series of classes at the University level in technology implementation in the classroom. I am sure that this certificate will benefit in more ways than one. I am currently in my doctoral studies at the University of Memphis studying Instruction and Curriculum Leadership, concentrating in Reading. My hopes is that I will one day design effective English curriculum that better prepare all students for college rigor. In addition to designing English curriculum, I would love to create a simulating, educational gaming software that teachers can use to teach their subject more effectively. So people, I welcome all post, advice, and mention of awesome technology and educational websites. After all, as educators we MUST TEACH STUDENTS WITH ENGAGING LESSONS! Wish me luck on my journey to success.
